Clark County Fair 2016

🎡 August 5-14, 2016: Clark County Fair. An estimated 4,000 people played the Plinko board game over the 10 day fair. To play Plinko, a correct answer to a Bible question was required. While some questions were harder than others, the questions were all based on the Messiah from the New Testament. Several parents and bystanders also heard the question and answers, planting thousands of seeds for the Kingdom. Many people who played knew “nothing” about the Bible. They left with a nugget of truth and knowledge of our LORD Yeshua – Jesus. Help was given to those who knew little to nothing and further challenges were given to others who found the questions “easy.” We gave away prizes that included several bags and boxes of treats, snacks, candy, and nuts. The bigger prizes included 200 water bottles and 500 pens with the LORD’s name on them and the fact that Yeshua is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6).

An estimated 100,000 people passed by our booth as fair attendance peaked over a quarter million this year. Many people looked and read the Scriptures on our 10′ banners which proclaim our God, Creator, King, Savior, and LORD – Yeshua, the Prince of Peace. During this big election year we wanted to tell people that it was God who made this country great and can again if we follow His perfect ways for our lives, families, community, and country. We also handed out free information on Biblically-based sustainability and responsible stewardship.

Many fairgoers stopped to look and admire the Isaiah Scroll exhibit, which is modeled after the real one in Jerusalem (found intact in the Dead Sea Scrolls) which is estimated to be about 2,200 years old. A pleasant surprise was how many young people asked questions about the Isaiah Scroll and examine it with a magnifying glass. The most amazing part of it all was showing people how the name Yeshua (Jesus in greek) which means “Savior” comes out of a Messianic prophecy in the Isaiah Scroll. We were able to make a logical link between the Old Testament “Savior” and the New Testament “Jesus.” The discovery of the Isaiah Scroll in 1947 in the Qumran area of the Dead Sea is vital evidence that the modern Book of Isaiah found in our Bible is the same as it was when Jesus spoke of it and read from it nearly 2,000 years ago. Proof that God’s word is infallible and His truth is eternal and immutable.

On the last weekend, Beit Shalom Balevav hosted a free GoPro Hero4 drawing right after our Torah service. A young man named Josiah, from Portland, came for the drawing and left with his wife and brand new GoPro camera after our potluck. He stated that he felt glad that he made the effort to come and that God had blessed him and his wife.
